Raider's Cup Cafe began as a student business plan written in Mrs. Smith's Entrepreneurship class during the 2005-2006 school year. Taking the business plan into the community led to some significant partnerships. Lowe's Hardware in Sandy Springs provided a grant to get the business started. Local business owner Jeanette Pounds of The Frame Source donated frames for the student photography which decks the walls of the former Teacher's lounge. As a cross-curricular endeavor, the Interior design class transformed the teacher's lounge into a cafe. Serving up Success (servingupsuccess.org) provided the curriculum for running the business and Rooster's Roast of Kennesaw was the original business partner. The Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting was September 19, 2006.
Students continue to manage the business operations of the coffee shop. Falling under the umbrella of the Occupational Awareness and Entrepreneurship curriculums, students have the opportunity to develop retail skills in scheduling, inventory and marketing. Faculty Sponsor: Sheri Smith
