Head Coach Mike Santoro is in his 11th year as Head Baseball Coach at Riverwood. Prior to his time at Riverwood, he served as Head Baseball Coach at Banneker High School in College Park. A native of New York, Coach Santoro moved to Atlanta in 1996 after graduating from St. John Fisher College where he played baseball. Coach Santoro teaches Advanced Placement US History. Following the 2009 season, his overall record at Riverwood is 201-117 with seven trips to the State Tournament, four Top Ten Rankings, and one Top Five Ranking. Many of Coach Santoro’s high school players have gone on to play baseball at the Division I, Division II, Division III and JUCO level. Coach Santoro is married to Stephanie and they have a daughter, Sophia Jane. Coach Santoro, Stephanie and Sophia also share their home with their two dogs, Mattingly and Huck.
Assistant Coach Desmond Atwell begins his 10th year as a Riverwood Assistant Baseball Coach. A native of Decatur, Georgia, Coach Atwell came to Riverwood after coaching several travel baseball teams in the metro area. An accomplished infielder while at Southwest Dekalb in the early 1990’s, Coach Atwell earned All-County honors as a second baseman after hitting .467 as a junior. He followed up that season by winning the Gold Glove and MVP team awards as a senior. Coach Atwell earned a scholarship and attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN. He then transferred to Thomas College, now Thomas University, in Thomasville, GA, to complete his playing career. Coach Atwell holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and is employed by Maysouth. Coach Atwell and his wife Joyce live in Smyrna with their dog, Ripken.

Assistant Coach Rick McKeone is entering his 37th year as an educator and a coach. After moving to Atlanta from St. Louis in 2002, Coach McKeone assumed the coaching duties of Head Wrestling Coach and Assistant Baseball Coach at Riverwood. He teaches Math and is also the Head Softball Coach. Coach McKeone is from Kansas City, Missouri and graduated from Missouri State with a BS in Education and a Master’s Degree from Central Missouri State. Married over 28 years to wife Sue, Coach McKeone credits his family for being supportive of his coaching career and for allowing his coaching to come before his family at times. Coach McKeone’s oldest son, Rick, played baseball at Riverwood and continued his baseball career at Shorter College in Rome, GA. His son, Zach, also graduated from Riverwood and was a 2006 State Champion Wrestler. His daughter, Lyndsay, is currently a student at Riverwood where she plays softball, basketball and lacrosse.
Assistant Coach Carlos Martinez is in his second year coaching at Riverwood. Coach Martinez is a Physical Education teacher at our neighboring elementary school, Heards Ferry. In addition to coaching the JV team and being an Assistant Varsity Coach, Coach Martinez is also the JV Softball coach at Riverwood. Coach Martinez is from San Juan Puerto Rico.
Assistant Coach Brady Radford returns for his second year as an Assistant Varsity Coach for the 2010 season. In addition to being an Assistant Varsity Coach for Baseball, Coach Radford is a Running Backs and Linebackers Coach for Riverwood Football. Coach Radford is a Paraprofessional in the IRR Department at Riverwood. He is from West Helena, Arkansas and holds a BS Degree in Architectural Engineering & Design from Tennessee State University. He also received his Masters of Divinity Degree in 2007. Coach Radford played baseball at Central High School in Arkansas. A newlywed, Coach Radford married Celestine Walker in September 2009.

Assistant Coach Lionel Wilson is in his 3rd year as a JV Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach for Riverwood Baseball. Coach Wilson has been coaching for 26 years and coached at Dunwoody High School from 2005-2007, and was part of their 2007 Baseball State Championship season. Coach Wilson is also a referee in the Dunwoody Baseball Senior League program. Coach Wilson and his wife Linda have three grown children, Maurice, Tanita, and Lisa. He also has six grandchildren.
Assistant Coach Matt Isenberg joins the Riverwood staff as a Community Coach for the 2010 season. A North Springs High School graduate, he was a member of the Fulton County All-County Team and also named the Fulton County Player of the Year. USA TODAY named him to the Honorable Mention team. Coach Isenberg played three years on the University of Georgia's Club Baseball team and served as coach of the club team from 2003-2004. Holding a Bachelor's Degree from UGA, Coach Isenberg returned to the Atlanta area and led the Ridgeview Middle School Baseball team as Head Coach for the 2009 season.
